Located in a quiet fishing village on the Central Coast, the design is a wonderful addition to the coastal location. Our clients had a vision for their home which they called ‘beach federation’ and with the carefully selected blend of contemporary and traditional design elements throughout, it certainly nails the brief.

Customised with care
The success of this project lies in our clients’ clear idea of how they wanted the design to look and feel and the ability of our design team to make it happen. The house replaced the original home that was built in the 1930s, and the property had been in the family for more than 40 years, so preserving a connection to the history was important.
To achieve this, our clients had a specific style in mind. Their commitment and the time and effort they put in during the design phase to create a customised home that’s unique, and matches their brief down to the last detail, was well and truly worth it.
The living space is a standout feature of the home. The raked ceilings, highlight windows and abundance of natural light combine to create a space that is inviting and beautiful, the perfect place to get together with family or unwind after a day at the beach.
The natural timber tones and crisp white colours and finishes combine beautifully, creating a relaxed, modern feel. There is also easy access via sliding doors to the verandah and decking outside, which helps create an easy flow while also extending the space.
Perfectly suited to the surrounds
The design stands out as something special, yet still blends well with the surrounds. The traditional façade and verandah give it a timeless appeal, while the blue cladding draws the eye and provides a subtle contrast with the white of the trims. Every element of the exterior has been thoughtfully selected to match the quiet, coastal location and the result is a home that’s the pride of the neighbourhood.
These days, a beautiful outdoor space is a must, especially in a beach house. Here, the large decking is ideally situated off the kitchen and living zone and features bi-fold doors to completely open up the space. The addition of a bi-fold window from the kitchen is another thoughtful touch, which is ideal for alfresco dining and entertaining. The decking is only partly undercover, leaving a large area open to relax and enjoy the warmth of the sunshine.
The attention to detail during the design phase is highly evident throughout the home, and the hand-picked features and fittings underpin the beach federation style our clients were hoping to achieve.
From the doors and architraves to the tapware and tiling, and everything in between, each element was carefully chosen to match the brief. Some highlights include the addition of louvre windows to capture the afternoon sea breeze, statement tiling and heritage tapware in the bathrooms, and a large stained-glass front door to create a grand and welcoming entrance.
